Child and Adolescent Therapy

I aim to support children (ages 3-12) and their caregivers with therapeutic approaches including Synergetic Play Therapy, Sensorimotor Arts Therapy and Child Psychotherapy.

Children learn and communicate through play and these approaches are recommended for children experiencing a wide range of challenges.  These challenges may be related to developmental trauma, attachment disruption, neurodiversity, psychosocial disability and behaviours associated with ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, family breakdown/conflict and other life changes.

For adolescents (age 13+), these therapeutic approaches are adapted to match the developmental needs of the young person.  I recognise the challenges of raising a teenager and engaging them in support. For this reason, I offer both face-to-face therapy and teletherapy.

For parents, I offer a welcoming and reflective space for parents and caregivers to build their understanding of the child’s emotional/social needs and their capacity to connect and co-regulate with their child.  Child therapy appointments begin with a 60min caregiver intake session (without child present). I recommend a minimum of 5 sessions for a comprehensive assessment of you and your child’s needs. Parenting sessions are recommended outside of the child’s therapy appointments.

The therapeutic approaches utilized are both trauma-informed and multi-modal. This includes Sensorimotor art therapy, body-based or Somatic therapies, Neurobiology and relational therapies. These approaches can support you during times of overwhelm, whatever the causes.

My particular areas of expertise include family violence, childhood trauma, antenatal & postnatal, systems of oppression, war and dislocation.
